| We
build skills
and allow the creative self to emerge like a chrysalis transforms
into a butterfly... Empowerment Arts offers a “process”
oriented experience as well as skill development. Serving youth
that may or may not identify themselves as artists, dancers,
actors, musicians, storytellers...
We
nurture
the creative impulse as well as the underlying form, structure
and design that supports all art expression. Opportunities are
offered to participate in meaningful, empowering expressive
experiences in a supportive, nurturing and affirming environment.
Girls
use the arts
to explore hopes, dreams, the changes in their bodies, new relationships,
fears... Their creative expressions tell stories or show underlying
themes that represents meaningful aspects of passage into young
womanhood. It could be an emotional poem she puts to music;
a dance that depicts a significant time in her life; a series
of images using traditional or digital materials to examine
changes; a theatrical improvisation to play with new ideas...
Girls
Want To Have Fun!
Though each girl can focus on one art form and is encouraged
to examine and explore her emerging identity in a final project
or presentation, girls can also experiment, try new things and
have fun.
